Biographical Note
George W. Cheatham was born on October 2, 1847, in Appomattox County, Virginia. Nannie P. Horsley was born on February 17, 1853, and lived in Nelson County , Virginia, until her marriage to Cheatham on October 13, 1873. They had two daughters: Elizabeth E. (b. abt. 1875) and Amanda H. (b. abt. 1879). The family had a farm in Appomattox County.
George died on July 25, 1937, and Nannie on July 25, 1919. They are both buried in Reedy Spring Baptist Church Cemetery, Spout Spring, Appomattox County, Virginia.

Scope and Content
The marriage license was completed in Appomattox, Virginia, and lists information about George and Nannie, including their ages at the time of the marriage, places of birth, and parents. In addition, the license notes the date of the wedding (October 13, 1873) and the name of the minister who conducted the ceremony.
